David Cowan

David Cowan is an Associate Professor at Berklee College of Music, specializing in Ensemble Percussion. A versatile drummer and multi-instrumentalist from Cleveland, Ohio, he combines performance, composition, and education in his career. His work spans television music composition, with hundreds of credits worldwide, and teaching courses focused on professional music development.

Cowan teaches 7 courses at Berklee, emphasizing fundamentals and musical language expansion for students. His performance career includes tours with Lalah Hathaway, Brian McKnight, Marilyn McCoo, and collaborations with notable artists like Common, Sheila E., and Spanky Alford. He has recorded with Ty Taylor (Vintage Trouble), Andy Hall (The Infamous Stringdusters), and others.
