About
David Brough is Professor of Neuroinflammation at the University of Manchester's Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health. His research focuses on molecular mechanisms of inflammation, particularly the processing and secretion of interleukin-1β and NLRP3 inflammasome activation. His lab investigates how inflammation contributes to neurological diseases including Alzheimer's disease, stroke, and multiple sclerosis.
Brough leads the BHF Centre for Research Excellence (2024-2029) and studies neuroinflammation using cellular models and preclinical studies. His work has identified natural compounds that inhibit inflammasome activation and has explored intracellular actions of interleukin-1 family cytokines.
