David Audretsch is a Distinguished Professor and Ameritech Chair of Economic Development at Indiana University, serving as Director of the Institute for Development Strategies. He additionally holds positions as Honorary Professor of Industrial Economics and Entrepreneurship at WHU-Otto Beisheim School of Management (Germany) and part-time Professor of Entrepreneurship at the University of Klagenfurt (Austria).
His research examines critical linkages between entrepreneurship, innovation systems, government policy frameworks, and economic development outcomes. Audretsch co-founded and serves as Editor-in-Chief of Small Business Economics: An Entrepreneurship Journal and co-authored the influential work The Seven Secrets of Germany analyzing national competitiveness drivers.
Recipient of the 2021 Clarivate Citation Laureate and Global Award for Entrepreneurship Research, his accolades include:
