David Arcilesi

David Arcilesi is an Assistant Professor of Nuclear Engineering at the University of Idaho's College of Engineering, specializing in reactor thermal hydraulics and advanced reactor safety. He holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Nuclear Engineering from Ohio State University and B.S. degrees in Mathematics and Physics from the University of Utah.

His research program focuses on thermal-hydraulic phenomena in advanced reactor systems including HTGRs and MSRs, employing experimental validation and computational methods. Recent publications analyze passive safety systems, accident progression scenarios, and thermal energy storage integration for next-generation nuclear technologies.

Current investigations include experimental facility design for helium component testing and autonomous safety algorithms for reactor operations.
