About
David Torvi is Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Saskatchewan's College of Engineering. His research focuses on heat transfer in materials under high heat flux conditions, particularly thermal protective clothing performance and fire behavior prediction.
Research includes modeling heat transfer in protective gear and human skin, evaluating clothing durability, correlating small/full-scale fire tests, and fire impact on buildings. Manages experimental facilities including cone calorimeters and protective fabric testers.
Teaches thermal fluids courses and one of North America's few Fire Protection Engineering courses. Active in technical societies including ASTM and SFPE.
