Dave Walsh

Dave Walsh is an Assistant Professor of Art and Design in the Painting and Drawing program at the School of Art+Design, SUNY Purchase College. He is a practicing painter based in New York City, with a strong foundation in both artistic practice and academic training.

His educational background includes a B.F.A. from the Tyler School of Art and an M.F.A. from the Yale School of Art, two of the most respected institutions in fine arts education.

Dave Walsh's research and artistic practice critically examine how 19th-century American landscape painting, photography, and the creation of National Parks have shaped contemporary understandings of nature and wilderness. His work engages with cultural myths embedded in landscape representation, using fieldwork in national parks as a starting point.
