Daryl May

Dr. Daryl May has been a Senior Lecturer at the Sheffield Business School, Sheffield Hallam University, since 2001. He currently serves as Head of Division for Sustainable Futures and Supply Chain, previously leading the Events Management team (2009-2021) and acting as Postgraduate Programme Leader. His career spans roles at Sheffield Hallam University and the UK Department of Health, focusing on facilities management and event management.

Research Interests: Daryl’s work centers on healthcare facilities management, particularly workforce development and the impact of facilities on health outcomes in the NHS. He explores event management through relationship marketing in festivals and experiential learning. His studies also address environmental cleaning policies, patient-focused maintenance systems, and performance measurement in healthcare estates. Recent projects examine spectator emotions at events like the Tour de France.
