Darin Ellis is Professor of Industrial Engineering and Vice Provost for Academic Programs, Assessment and Accreditation at Wayne State University. He oversees academic policies, curriculum development, student learning assessment, registrar operations, and the University Bulletin. Previously (2010-2016), he led the College of Engineering's academic programs and student services, reorganizing advising systems and integrating Computer Science programs into the College.

Research Focus: With 30+ years in human factors and ergonomics, Dr. Ellis specializes in human-automation interaction including robotic interfaces enhanced by machine learning and augmented reality. His work encompasses user-centered design of robot controls, operator cognitive workload assessment, and performance measurement systems. Applications include teleoperated ground vehicles, surgical robotics, and space manipulators.
Teaching: Courses include IE 3120 (Work Environment), BE 2100 (Probability and Statistics for Engineers), and IE 7120 (Human Factors Engineering).
Awards & Recognition: Honored for contributions to first-year student success programs and leadership in approving new degree initiatives.
