Darian R. Lockett serves as Associate Professor of New Testament at Talbot School of Theology, Biola University, where he teaches within the Division of Biblical and Theological Studies. His academic journey includes a Ph.D. from the University of St. Andrews, an M.Div. from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a B.A. from the University of Kansas.
Dr. Lockett's research focuses primarily on the Catholic Epistles (James, 1-2 Peter, 1-3 John, Jude), with particular emphasis on their canonical function, relationship to the Old Testament, and implications for biblical theology. His scholarly approach integrates historical-critical methods with theological interpretation, examining how these letters functioned as a collection in early Christianity.
His publication history reveals consistent scholarly output on James studies and the Catholic Epistles, with monographs spanning from Purity and Worldview in the Epistle of James (2008) through Letters for the Church (2021). His work demonstrates increasing attention to canonical approaches, showing how these seven letters form a coherent witness to early Christian theology and practice.
