Daphne Chan, OD, FAAO, is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of California, San Francisco Department of Ophthalmology, where she provides comprehensive optometry services, specializes in specialty contact lens fitting, and contributes to pre- and post-op cataract surgery care. She is also the Associate Chief of Optometry at UCSF and actively participates in the department’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee.

Her research interests include improving patient care through specialty contact lenses and advancing diversity and access in optometry education. She focuses on clinical training for residents and reducing student expenses while maximizing educational opportunities.
She was awarded the COA Young Optometrist of the Year in 2021 and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. She also serves as secretary of the San Francisco Optometric Society since 2017.
Daphne mentors optometry and ophthalmology residents, trains incoming ophthalmology residents in core exam skills, and collaborates with her father Alan Chan (OD ’72) in optometry-related discussions. She aspires to expand free eye care initiatives to developing countries.
