Clinical Professor
Kimberly D. Kohne serves as a Clinical Professor at Indiana University School of Optometry, where she joined the faculty in 2005 after completing her residency and was promoted to Clinical Professor in 2020. Her clinical responsibilities span the primary care floor with third-year interns, the contact lens clinic with fourth-year interns, and the IU Health Center Eye Clinic. Education: Bachelor of Science in Microbiology, Indiana University (1996) Doctor of Optometry, University of Missouri–St. Louis (2004) Residency in Ocular Disease, Indiana University (2005) Dr. Kohne's clinical expertise focuses on ocular disease management, advanced contact lens fitting, low vision rehabilitation, and comprehensive primary eye care. Her work integrates patient-centered approaches with evidence-based practices across multiple clinical settings, emphasizing accessibility and specialized treatment for diverse visual conditions. Dr. Kohne earned her Fellowship in the American Academy of Optometry in 2006. As an educator, she mentors optometry students through clinical rotations and serves as assistant site coordinator for the National Board of Examiners in Optometry (NBEO). She actively participates in admissions interviews and serves on multiple School of Optometry committees, shaping curriculum development and clinical training standards. Her professional engagement extends to clinical sites including the primary care floor, contact lens clinic, and IU Health Center Eye Clinic.
