Danny Hutchins is a Lecturer in the Department of Theatre at the University of Southern Maine (USM), affiliated with the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. A native of Maine, he specializes in musical theatre performance and staging, with a focus on community engagement through theatre. He holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from The Boston Conservatory at Berklee, an ALM in Liberal Arts from Harvard University, and is currently pursuing a JD at The University of Maine School of Law.
His professional experience includes founding and leading the Create. Inspire. Change. Theater Company, a nonprofit dedicated to bringing theatre to underserved communities. He has also served as Director of Theater at The Performing Arts Connection and held roles at The Boston Conservatory. Notable directing credits include The Prom, The Wizard of Oz, Heathers, and RENT. He is an associate member of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society.
At USM, he teaches Special Topics: Acting the Song. His work bridges artistic innovation with educational outreach, emphasizing accessible theatre experiences for diverse audiences.
