Dr. Danisa Bonacic is an Associate Professor and Undergraduate Program Director of the Applied Spanish Department at Simmons University. She has been affiliated with the institution since 2007, leading the Spanish major/minor and language programs. Her teaching focuses on integrating Latin American literature, history, and cultural issues into language courses at all proficiency levels.
Dr. Bonacic holds a BA and MA in Literature and Linguistics from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, and a PhD from Brown University specializing in Contemporary Latin American Literature. Her research examines social issues in Argentine and Chilean literature from the late 20th to early 21st centuries, with publications on authors like Diamela Eltit, César Aira, and Mario Bellatin.
Her pedagogical approach emphasizes cultural context and critical engagement with Latin American texts. She currently teaches in Room A-350L and can be reached at (617) 521-2230.
