Danielle Witten

Danielle Witten is a Lecturer and Supervisor at the School of Education, California Polytechnic State University, Humboldt. She holds a B.A. from UC Davis (2002) and a Master's from Teachers College, Columbia University, focusing on critical consciousness and literacy in adolescent learners. With nearly 20 years of teaching experience, she has taught at secondary and university levels, including roles at Arcata High School in Northern California. Currently, she serves as an instructional coach, supporting local high school teachers in creating equity-centered and trauma-informed curricula, while also teaching Content Area Literacy and supervising pre-service teachers.

Her work emphasizes accessible learning experiences and has been recognized through awards such as the 2015 Carlston Award and the 2020 CJMA Nick Ferentinos Award for Advising Excellence. Prior to academia, she worked in public radio and supported participatory action initiatives with rural Central Valley youth.
