Danielle Davis

Danielle Davis is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine, part of Yale University. Her research focuses on understanding and addressing nicotine and cannabis use behaviors in youth and young adults, particularly through the lens of flavor influences, cessation strategies, and public health interventions. She holds a PhD in Experimental Psychology from the University of Vermont and completed her postdoctoral training at Yale School of Medicine.

Her work examines the intersection of e-cigarette use, flavor preferences, and their impacts on adolescents’ health outcomes. Notable research includes studies on vaping cessation motivations, cooling flavor effects on nicotine dependence, and cannabis co-use among teens. Davis is also involved in developing youth-focused virtual cessation programs combining cognitive-behavioral therapy with incentives.

Key grants include a $20M federal renewal for the Yale Tobacco Center of Regulatory Science. Her findings have informed regulatory discussions on flavor bans and product design. Davis collaborates with institutions like the Janeway Society and the Tobacco Research in Youth (TRY) initiative, contributing to translational research bridging behavioral science and clinical practice.
