Daniela Risch

Daniela Risch serves as Lecturer for Special Tasks and Workshop Leader at the University of Duisburg-Essen's Institute for Art and Art History within the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. Her teaching focuses on experimental and documentary photography techniques, including courses like Basic Principles of Analogue Photography and Digital Recording Techniques across multiple semesters through 2025.

Her artistic research centers on photographic documentation, non-figurative painting, and video art, with significant emphasis on concrete photography and material transformation processes. Risch explores urban landscapes through evolving techniques where 'incoming daylight provides visibility but gradually obscures the motif,' demonstrating her interest in temporal and perceptual phenomena.

Exhibition trends reveal consistent engagement with collaborative formats since 2015, particularly through artist duos (DUET series) and collective projects like CITY OF GOLD. Her recent 2023-2025 works prioritize photogram techniques and material deconstruction, often examining urban environments through layered processes that merge physical and digital elements.
