Prof. Dr. Daniel Thym, LL.M. is a Professor at the Chair of Public, European, and International Law within the Department of Law at the University of Konstanz. He leads the Research Centre Immigration & Asylum Law and serves as a Principal Investigator in the Cluster of Excellence 'The Politics of Inequality' and 'Cultural Foundations of Social Integration.'
Research Interests:
- Migration Law at German, European, and International Levels
- European Constitutional Law, including Constitutionalism beyond the state and Human Rights (Charter, ECHR, national constitutions)
- Policy debates on immigration, asylum, border controls, citizenship, and social integration
Institutional Affiliations:
- Director of the Research Centre Immigration & Asylum Law (since 2010)
- Spokesperson of the Konstanz Branch of the Research Institute Social Cohesion (RISC) (since 2020)
- Chairperson of the Advisory Committee on Migration of Researchers and Skilled Workers at the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (since 2019)
- Member of the Academic Advisory Board of the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (since 2022)
- German Member of the Odysseus Network for Legal Experts on Immigration and Asylum in Europe (since 2011)
- Senior Research Fellow at the Walter Hallstein-Institute for European Constitutional Law (1999–2009)
