Dr Daniel Roberts serves as Research Director of CSIRO's Energy Technologies Research Program, overseeing a multidisciplinary portfolio in hydrogen, solar PV and thermal, energy storage, CO2 capture and use, bioenergy, and sustainable fuels. The program operates across sites in Brisbane, Newcastle, Canberra, and Melbourne, focusing on quality science for net-zero emissions transition.

With 30 years of experience in gasification and combustion, Roberts' research spans hydrogen energy systems, bioenergy, sustainable aviation fuels, waste-to-energy, biomass gasification, and carbon capture. His work includes industrial-scale gasification campaigns internationally and leadership in sustainable fuel production from biomass and waste.
Roberts leads CSIRO's participation in the Heavy Industry Low-Carbon Transition CRC and IEA Bioenergy Task 36, and serves on the editorial board of Fuels and scientific committees for major energy conferences. He has been a peer reviewer for numerous energy journals since 2004.
