Daniel Kowalsky

Dr. Daniel Kowalsky is a Lecturer in History at Queen's University Belfast's School of History, Anthropology, Philosophy and Politics. He specializes in 20th-century Spanish history, particularly Soviet involvement in the Spanish Civil War and interwar diplomatic history. His research has been recognized with the American Historical Association's Gutenberg-e Prize (2001). Kowalsky holds a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and has taught at institutions including Washington University, the American University in Cairo, and the University of Bristol before joining Queen's in 2005. He has authored books, edited volumes, and numerous articles on Spanish Republican diplomacy, Soviet cultural propaganda, and transnational history.
