Professor Daniel Humphrey is affiliated with the Department of Performance and Visual Studies at Texas A&M University, where he has been since 2008. He holds a PhD in Visual and Cultural Studies from the University of Rochester. His research focuses on queer theory, European art cinema, horror film, and Swedish cinema, with particular attention to Ingmar Bergman and film authorship. He is the author of *Queer Bergman: Sexuality, Gender, and the European Art Cinema* (2013) and *Archaic Modernism: Queer Poetics in the Cinema of Pier Paolo Pasolini* (2020).
- Teaching areas include Film Studies, Performance Studies, Women’s & Gender Studies, and Queer Theory.
- Affiliated with the Society for Cinema and Media Studies, serving as Co-Chair of its Nordic Studies Scholarly Interest Group.
Research interests span queer subjectivity, cinematic spectatorship, transnational film history, and auteur filmmaking. His work bridges theoretical frameworks with close analysis of film form and cultural reception.
