Daniel Hillyard is an Associate Professor in the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Southern Illinois University (SIU), joining the faculty in Fall 2002. Prior to SIU, he served as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of California, Irvine.
- Ph.D. in Social Ecology from the University of California, Irvine (1999)
- J.D. from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law (1990)
His research focuses on the intersection of law, ethics, and societal structures, with specializations in Law and Social Change, Law and Social Control, and Law and Morality. He has co-authored a book on the "right to die" and authored a recent book exploring crime, law, and morality in America.
