Daniel Heyen is Professor of Environmental Economics at RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau, with additional affiliations as Associate Researcher at ETH Zurich, Fellow of the CESifo Research Network, and member of the Standing Field Committee on Environmental and Resource Economics (AURÖ).
His educational background includes a PhD in Economics from Heidelberg University, complemented by foundational studies in Mathematics and Physics.
Heyen's research bridges decision theory and environmental economics through two primary strands: (1) societal decision-making under uncertainty covering scientific uncertainty characterization, value of information/forecasts, risk regulation design, and the precautionary principle; and (2) strategic analysis of environmental technologies—particularly geoengineering—focusing on heterogeneous preferences and their implications for deployment/R&D equilibria.
