Daniel Ferguson is an Assistant Professor at Bilkent University (starting Fall 2025) and currently a British Academy Newton International Fellow at King’s College London. He holds a PhD in Classics and Philosophy from Yale University (2021). His research focuses on ancient Greek philosophy, particularly Aristotle’s ethics and Plato’s Republic, with an emphasis on virtue, agency, and happiness. Ferguson previously held positions as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Northwestern University and Lecturer at Yale University.
Education: PhD in Classics and Philosophy (Yale University, 2021); BA in Philosophy (UNC-Chapel Hill, 2013).
Research Interests:
- Ancient Greek ethics (Plato and Aristotle)
- Methodology in Aristotelian texts (e.g., Eudemian Ethics)
- Themes of self-knowledge and moral agency in classical philosophy.
His current projects include a book on Aristotle’s Eudemian Ethics and papers analyzing Plato’s Republic.
