Daniel Feather

Daniel Feather is a Senior Lecturer in History at Liverpool John Moores University's School of Humanities and Social Sciences. His work focuses on British cultural diplomacy, African and global history, and postcolonial studies, with research projects funded by the British Academy, British International Studies Association, and Royal Historical Society.

• Education: PhD in History (2020), MRes in Modern History (2014), PGCE in Post-Compulsory Education (2014), BA (Hons) in History (2011), all from Liverpool John Moores University.

Feather's research examines British relations with apartheid-era states, including his 2024 monograph British Cultural Diplomacy in South Africa, 1960-1994 and ongoing work on Rhodesia and South African Bantustans. His publications blend diplomatic history with analyses of cultural institutions like the British Council.

Recent work trends include interdisciplinary collaborations with organizations like AM Digital and the British Council, as well as public engagement through The Conversation and media appearances on Sky News. His pedagogical contributions focus on foundation year programs in arts and humanities.
