Prof. Dr. Daniel Bodemer is a Full Professor at the Department of Human-centered Computing and Cognitive Science within the Faculty of Computer Science at the University of Duisburg-Essen, Duisburg Campus. He has held the chair for Psychological Research Methods – Media-Based Knowledge Construction (Technology, Learning, Collaboration) since 2012.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Psychology (Dr. phil.) from the University of Freiburg (2004), obtained after participating in the first virtual DFG Research Training Group "Knowledge Acquisition and Knowledge Exchange with New Media".
Research Interests:
- Analyzing and guiding collaborative learning processes, particularly through cognitive group awareness tools.
- Investigating multimedia learning, including multiple and interactive representations.
- Studying self-regulated learning with a focus on social metacognition.
- Technology-supported education frameworks and interdisciplinary applications.
Grants & Research Leadership:
- Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI) of the DFG-funded Research Training Group "User-Centred Social Media".
- Secured third-party funding from various organizations for his projects.
- Active in interdisciplinary research, including NSF/DFG American-German Research Exchange Programs on Technology-Supported Education.

- Head of the Department of Psychological Research Methods – Technology, Learning, Collaboration.
- Chairman of the examination board for the Applied Cognitive and Media Science (Bachelor’s and Master’s) and Human-Centered Computer Science and Psychology (Bachelor’s and Master’s) programs.
