Dane Joseph

Dane Joseph, PhD, is a Professor of Education at George Fox University's College of Education. His academic appointments include:

• Pacific University (2010–2015)

He directs research, assessment, and evaluation studies using a pragmatic approach that values both validity and usefulness, often employing field experiments and collaborating with stakeholders to create solutions based on psychological science. His methodological expertise bridges theoretical rigor with practical application in educational contexts.

Dr. Joseph's research interests include educational research, program evaluation, science education, psychological science, phenomenology, and heuristic inquiry. His personal scholarship uses heuristic inquiry—a phenomenological approach deeply rooted in psychology and philosophy—to reflect on learning experiences as a methodologist and how they shape beliefs and practices. This work emphasizes the integration of philosophical inquiry with empirical research design.

Currently, Dr. Joseph serves as a research fellow for the Program for Leadership & Formation, funded by the Educating Character Initiative and Lilly Endowment, supporting Drs. Travis Pickell and Joseph Clair. He contributes to the academic community as an editorial review board member for the Journal of Science Teacher Education, focusing on science pedagogy and teacher development.

He is an active member of the Program for Leadership & Formation team, collaborating on character education initiatives and leadership development projects within George Fox University's College of Education.
