About
Dan Bizzotto is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of British Columbia, Faculty of Science. His research focuses on electrochemical processes involving molecular films adsorbed on electrode surfaces, with applications in biosensors, fuel cells, and surface science.
- Education: B.Sc. (Calgary, 1989), Ph.D. (Guelph, 1996), Postdoctoral research at Plymouth Marine Laboratories (UK) and Fritz Haber Institute (Germany).
Research Interests include spectroelectrochemistry, DNA-based biosensors, and electrocatalysis. He develops techniques like in-situ fluorescence microscopy and AFM to study electrode interfaces, DNA self-assembled monolayers, and Pt nanostructures in Nafion. His work addresses surface heterogeneity, thermal stability of DNA SAMs, and fuel cell catalyst degradation.
Scientific Awards:
- 2015 Prix Jacques Tacussel, International Society of Electrochemistry
- 2001 Lash Miller Award, Electrochemical Society (Canadian Section)
