Dai Thomas is a Senior Lecturer at Swansea University's School of Social Sciences, Department of Education and Childhood Studies. With a career spanning secondary education (1996–2004) and alternative provision (2004–2014), he transitioned to higher education in 2015, teaching modules on Additional Learning Needs (ALN) and inclusive education. He served as an external examiner at Middlesex, Staffordshire, Teesside, and Plymouth Marjon Universities until 2024 and beyond.
Research Interests focus on ALN policy, inclusive pedagogy, and behavior support. His 2024 publications address learner grouping, educational equity, and rights-based approaches in Wales. He supervises PhD students on autism diagnosis impacts and autism in Saudi Arabian education.
