Layal Isskandarani

Dr. Layal Isskandarani is a Lecturer in Economics at Teesside University (since May 2024) and Course Leader for the BSc (Hons) Business Economics program (since January 2025). She holds a PhD from the University of Staffordshire (2023) and has over a decade of experience in higher education, including roles as Chair of the Department of Finance (2017–2021) and Coordinator of Economics and Statistics (2017–2023) at the Modern University for Business and Science (Lebanon). She also served as Coordinator for Postgraduate Programmes at the University of Kurdistan Hewlêr’s School of Management and Economics (2024).

• Education: PhD in Economics (University of Staffordshire, 2023)

Her research focuses on international trade in education services, economic internationalization of private universities, and strategic management. She actively supervises master’s and doctoral students and is committed to innovative pedagogy and collaborative research. Layal also holds external roles, including Visiting Professor at the University of Kurdistan Hewlêr (since October 2024) and External Examiner at the University of Technology Bahrain (since March 2024).
