Daesik Cha is an Affiliated Artist and Piano Lab Instructor in the Music Department at MIT. His professional work spans concert performances, music scholarship, and teaching. He holds a PhD in Musicology from Brandeis University (dissertation: Transformation of the Keyboard Fantasia in the Classical Period (1780–1800)), alongside Master's degrees in Music History/Piano Performance. His research focuses on German instrumental aesthetics, Classical/Romantic-era literature, and Renaissance vocal polyphony.
He has performed at prominent venues like Harvard’s Sanders Theater and Brandeis University, including a 2016 solo recital at the Frederick Historical Piano Study Center. Teaching experience includes roles as a Teaching Fellow at Brandeis University and the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music (CCM).
