Curtis L. Lewis is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Teacher Education at Michigan State University’s College of Education. His work focuses on educational equity, particularly strategies to recruit and retain Black male educators in K-12 schools, dismantling inequitable school structures, and advancing liberatory educational practices. He holds a Ph.D. from Michigan State University.
Research Interests: Lewis specializes in restorative practices, culturally sustaining pedagogy, and addressing systemic inequities that marginalize students of color. He emphasizes K-8 mathematics education and school leadership development as critical areas for fostering inclusive environments. His work challenges practices that devalue student voices and obstruct equitable learning opportunities.
