Craig Shephard is a Senior Researcher at the Applied Agricultural Remote Sensing Centre (AARSC) at the University of New England (UNE). With over 20 years of professional experience in landscape attribute mapping, particularly land cover and use, he specializes in remote sensing and web-based GIS technologies. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and Geography from Macquarie University.
His research focuses on integrating spatial data via web-GIS platforms (Esri’s ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online) to inform decision-making in agriculture and environmental management. Key contributions include leading Queensland’s Land Use Mapping Program and winning the 'Best Thematic Map' award at the 2019 Esri Conference. He collaborates with ACLUMP and industry partners to map horticultural tree crops across Australia.
