Craig Keener

Craig S. Keener is Professor of New Testament at Asbury Theological Seminary, specializing in New Testament backgrounds and socio-rhetorical analysis. His IVP Bible Background Commentary: New Testament has sold over 500,000 copies and been translated into multiple languages.

Education:

• Ph.D. - Duke University

Research examines New Testament texts within early Jewish and Greco-Roman contexts, with significant works on miracles, gospel historiography, and Pauline epistles. Four books have won Christianity Today Book Awards. Teaches internationally, especially across Africa, focusing on ethnic reconciliation through pastoral training programs.

Recent publications include the four-volume exegetical commentary on Acts (2012-2015) and Miracles: The Credibility of the New Testament Accounts (2011). Collaborates with spouse Médine Moussounga Keener on reconciliation initiatives in the US and Africa.
