About
Corinna Schnitt is a renowned artist and filmmaker serving as a professor of Film/Video at the University of Fine Arts Hamburg (HBK) since 2009. She has held visiting artist positions at CalArts (Valencia, USA) in 2004-2005 and previously taught at HFBK Hamburg (2007-2009). Her artistic practice spans video, film, drawing, photography, and text-based works, showcased in major solo exhibitions at institutions like the Museum Ludwig (Cologne), Chinati Foundation (Marfa, Texas), and Sprengel Museum (Hanover).
Her teaching philosophy emphasizes experimental material exploration, development of independent visual languages, and critical engagement with socially relevant topics. She advocates for early exposure to exhibition design challenges and risk-taking in artistic processes, stating: "Failure is part of the artistic process—no risk, no fun, no success."
The class environment fosters interdisciplinary discourse through diverse media including sculpture, installation, and text-based projects, creating a dynamic platform for contemporary art exploration.
