Corin Hewitt

Corin Hewitt is a Professor in the Sculpture + Extended Media department at Virginia Commonwealth University. His practice spans installations, performances, sculptures, photographs, and videos that examine relationships between architecture and domestic life, informed by his prior work as an electrician and plumber.

Education:

• BA from Oberlin College
• MFA from Bard College

Hewitt’s work investigates the intersection of utilitarian labor and artistic expression, often incorporating materials and methodologies from his experience in trades. His solo exhibitions include venues such as the Whitney Museum of American Art and ICA VCU, while group shows span international institutions like the Astrup Fearnley Museum of Modern Art in Oslo.
