Corey Taylor serves as Department Head of Humanities-Social Science-Arts and Professor of English at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. He holds a PhD in English from the University of Delaware (2007) and specializes in American literature, African American literature, and sustainability studies, with additional expertise in technical and professional communication.
His academic credentials include a BA from Ursinus College (2001), followed by an MA (2003) and PhD (2007) from the University of Delaware. These degrees underpin his expertise in literary studies and sustainability education.
Dr. Taylor's research centers on twentieth-century American literature, African American literature, literary adaptations of blues and jazz, modernism, and sustainability studies. He has conducted significant work on Sterling Plumpp's poetry and the adaptation of African-American music to literature, alongside exploring the rhetoric of sustainability. His teaching encompasses African-American literature, American literature, and technical and professional communication.
His scholarly output demonstrates strong interdisciplinary connections between sustainability education and African American literary traditions, with recent work focusing on curriculum design in sustainability cohorts and cultural genealogy in blues poetry across multiple publications from 2009-2017.
