Corey Takahashi is an Associate Professor at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, Syracuse University. He specializes in multimedia and multiplatform storytelling, teaching undergraduate, graduate, and mid-career professionals. His research focuses on generational shifts in media and culture, and the role of technology in modern storytelling.
Education includes fellowships at McGill University, UC Berkeley, and the University of Southern California. He has consulted for organizations like the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and the Los Angeles Times, and has spoken at institutions such as Cornell, USC, and Northwestern.
Research interests span media entrepreneurship, diversity in media ownership, and innovation in journalism education. He developed courses for Newhouse’s online master’s program and was recognized as a YouTube-certified educator. His work has appeared in Monocle, Quartz, NPR, and The Wall Street Journal.
Awards include the Maynard Institute Fellowship (2022) and being named one of the nation’s top journalism educators by Crain’s NewsPro (2020).
He has led initiatives like the SXSW panel “New Bosses/New Voices: Diversity in Media Ownership” and co-created the 2023 “Startups, Web3, and the Future of Media” conference in Miami.
