Coreen Duffy

Coreen Duffy is an Associate Professor of Conducting and Director of Choral Activities at the University of Colorado Boulder's College of Music. She leads the CU Boulder Chamber Singers and oversees the choral program, including graduate programs in choral conducting at the master’s and doctoral levels. Duffy also serves as Artistic Director of the Seicento Baroque Ensemble, focusing on period instruments and historically-informed performance practices.

Educational Background: She holds a DMA in Choral Music from the University of Southern California, an MM in Conducting from the University of Miami Frost School of Music, a Juris Doctor from the University of Michigan Law School, and a BMA and BA in English from the University of Michigan.

Research & Advocacy: Duffy specializes in Jewish choral music, addressing antisemitism in programming through works on repertoire, performance practices, and composition. She actively combats tokenism, caricature, and erasure in choral programming. Her compositions are published by ECS Publishing, Hinshaw Music, Pavane Publishing, and Walton Music.

Leadership Roles: Vice President of the National Collegiate Choral Organization (NCCO), former president-elect of Northwestern ACDA, and Northwest representative of NAfME National Choral Council. Previously chaired the General Education Committee at the University of Montana.

Performance History: Led University of Montana Chamber Chorale in international performances including Carnegie Hall, Marktoberdorf International Chamber Choir Competition (Germany), and festivals in Germany, London, and Spokane. Directed Missoula Community Chorus and University Choir.
