Rodney H. Caldwell is a Professor of Music at Mars Hill University, serving as Department Chair, Director of Choral Studies, and Coordinator of Music Education. He leads The Mars Hill University Choir and Chamber Singers, and teaches conducting, music education, and comprehensive musicianship. Previously, he held positions at Georgia Southern University and Susquehanna University, where he was the Strentansky Distinguished Professor of Choral Music. He also served as Conductor-in-Residence at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center for MidAmerica Productions.
Dr. Caldwell earned a B.A. in Music Education from Luther College, and M.M. and D.M.A. in Conducting from the University of Arizona. His conducting mentors include Weston Noble, Maurice Skones, and others. He has directed choirs performing at venues like Carnegie Hall, Vatican City, and Washington, D.C., and conducted over 50 honor choirs across the U.S. and Europe.
Active in professional organizations, he holds leadership roles in NAFME and ACDA, and is a sought-after clinician and guest conductor. His choirs have performed for the American Choral Directors Association and National Association for Music Education.
