Colleen McLean Eddy

Colleen McLean Eddy is an Associate Professor and Department Chair in the Department of Teacher Education and Administration at the University of North Texas (UNT), College of Education. She specializes in mathematics education and curriculum & instruction, with a strong commitment to equity and rehumanizing practices in STEM education.

Her research focuses on the role of mathematics teacher educators, the development of preservice and practicing teachers, and creating equitable pathways in STEM. She integrates the framework of rehumanizing mathematics (Gutiérrez, 2013, 2018) into her scholarship, emphasizing identity, agency, and access. A central methodology in her work is lesson study, which she uses as a tool for professional development and instructional improvement.

Dr. Eddy has secured over $5 million in research funding, including serving as Principal Investigator on the NSF Robert Noyce Scholarship Grant. This project supports the recruitment and preparation of highly qualified STEM teachers for high-need school districts, aligning with her mission of expanding equitable access to quality education.

She is actively involved in advancing teacher education through curriculum innovation, grant leadership, and departmental administration. Her work bridges research, policy, and classroom practice to transform mathematics education.
