Colleen Hamilton

Dr. Colleen Hamilton is an Associate Professor of ESL/Bilingual Education at National Louis University's National College of Education. She teaches graduate and doctoral courses in bilingual foundations, methods, assessment, and linguistics, preparing educators for linguistically diverse contexts.

Her research focuses on language equity, bilingual identities, and pedagogical innovation in Hispanic-Serving Institutions. Key projects include institutional multilingualism, translanguaging in classrooms, and college pathways for bilingual youth. Publications emphasize teacher education reform and critical approaches to language learning.

Dr. Hamilton leads the Language Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Affinity Group and directs the federally funded STARTALK teacher preparation program. She has developed Masters/Doctoral curricula and authored peer-reviewed publications advancing bilingual education frameworks.
