Cody J Roberts serves as a Lecturer in the Department of Humanities and Communication at California State University, Monterey Bay within the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. As a proud product of the CSU system with both B.A. and M.A. degrees from CSU Chico, he brings firsthand experience of the California State University educational journey to his teaching practice.
Dr. Roberts' research focuses on politicized identity within academic and creative writing contexts, with an emphasis on reinventing the Contemporary Literary Canon and exploring deeper understandings of identity in scholarly work. His current research project examines student identity and the pedagogy of 'self-implication' within academia through writing and reading instruction. His teaching philosophy centers on student-centered learning where students actively shape the educational experience.
Specializing in Composition, Creative Writing, Literature, and Literacy Studies, Dr. Roberts teaches courses including HCOM 110, HCOM 125, HCOM 410, HCOM 419, and CAD 101A. Dr. Roberts maintains office hours Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:00pm-1:00pm in CAHSS 504-2125, with additional appointments available by request, providing students with dedicated support for their academic development across multiple disciplines.
