David A. Reichard

David A. Reichard is Professor of History and Legal Studies in the Humanities and Communication department at California State University, Monterey Bay's College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. He serves as the campus pre-law advisor, supporting students seeking admission to law school and careers in the legal profession.

Professor Reichard's research focuses on late 20th century LGBTQ+ history, with broader expertise spanning 19th and 20th century U.S. social, political, and legal history. He has organized the LGBTQ History of Monterey County project, now housed in CSUMB library special collections, demonstrating his commitment to preserving local LGBTQ+ history.

His teaching portfolio includes HCOM 343: Race and Gender Justice, HCOM 357: Constitutional Law, HCOM 498: Legal Aid Internship, and HCOM 359: Law, Politics and LGBTQ History. Professor Reichard emphasizes community engagement, supporting student internships with local civil legal aid organizations and partnering with community groups on historical projects.
