Leibniz Institute for Experimental VirologyAbout
Prof. Dr. Claudia Denkinger serves as Deputy Partner Site Speaker at Heidelberg University Hospital within the ADOPT research network, coordinating tuberculosis studies across German sites including Heidelberg, Hamburg, Lübeck, Borstel, Riems, Munich, Bonn, and Cologne. Her leadership focuses on multicenter clinical research addressing critical gaps in tuberculosis diagnosis and treatment.
Her research program centers on pediatric tuberculosis diagnostics and extrapulmonary TB biomarker discovery. Through the RaPaed-TB study, she investigates diagnostic signatures for childhood TB where microbiological confirmation fails in 250,000 annual pediatric deaths. The mEX-TB cohort study identifies biomarkers for extrapulmonary TB risk stratification and treatment monitoring. Her work bridges clinical practice with translational science to develop child-friendly diagnostic tools.
Dr. Denkinger leads collaborative teams across Germany's tuberculosis research infrastructure, leveraging hospital networks for prospective biomarker validation. Her projects emphasize practical solutions for underserved populations where conventional TB diagnostics lack accuracy and accessibility.
