Claire Wilson

Claire Wilson is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Education and Social Sciences, focusing on educational and developmental psychology with an emphasis on inequalities, diversity, and inclusion. Her work centers on neurodiverse populations such as those with Autism, ADHD, and intellectual disabilities, examining teacher beliefs, unconscious bias, and inclusive policies. She investigates social inclusion strategies and interventions to enhance neurodivergent children’s social relationships.

Her research includes collaborative projects on ADHD school experiences, trauma-informed care for children with intellectual disabilities, and the intersection of neurodiversity and financial hardship. She has received the British Psychology Society Early Career Researcher Award (2017) for her contributions to educational psychology. Claire’s work spans qualitative and mixed-methods approaches, addressing topics like parental perspectives on autism inclusion and the role of pets in children’s social development.

Her recent publications explore mobile virtual reality in higher education, equity fund utilization by school leaders, and sexting behavior analysis. Claire is actively involved in developing school-based interventions to promote inclusive education practices.
