Claire Schub

Claire Schub is a Teaching Professor in the Department of Romance Studies at Tufts University, where she has been affiliated since 1988. Her academic work bridges literary analysis, visual studies, and media theory.

• PhD in French from Princeton University (1986)
• BA and MA in French from Princeton University (1974, 1979)

Research focuses on 20th–21st century French and Francophone literature, with interdisciplinary connections to Women's Studies and Film Studies. She has taught courses on topics including:

• French Women Filmmakers
• Love and War in French Film
• Mothers and Daughters in French literature
• Senior Honors Theses and Independent Studies

Professional involvement includes active participation in the Northeast Modern Language Association (NEMLA) conferences from 2016–2020, both as presenter and session chair.
