Dr. Chun Yu Mak is a Lecturer in Accounting & Finance at the Department of Finance, Birmingham Business School, University of Birmingham. He has held this position since September 2003 and is actively engaged in teaching, research, and academic administration.

Dr. Mak's research focuses on capital market research in accounting, financial analysts’ forecasts, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), corporate restructuring, and earnings management. His work involves both individual and international collaborations with scholars in the UK, China, Latin America, and the US. His recent publications appear in high-quality journals such as British Accounting Review and Journal of Accounting Research, with topics including IFRS adoption in Europe and Latin America, corporate refocusing, and earnings conservatism.
His teaching portfolio includes leading and teaching modules such as Advanced Financial Statement Analysis, International Financial Statement Analysis, and Financial Statement Analysis at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including MBA programs. He has also delivered teaching in overseas programs in China and Singapore.
