Christy Thornton is an Associate Professor of Sociology at Johns Hopkins University (on leave for the 2024-25 academic year). She joined the Hopkins faculty in 2017 and serves as Co-Chair of the Program in Latin American, Caribbean, and Latinx Studies. Previously, she was an Assistant Professor of History and International Studies at Rowan University and held a fellowship at Harvard University's Weatherhead Initiative on Global History. Her research focuses on global inequality, labor movements, and Latin America's political economy, with an emphasis on Mexico.
