Megan Thornton

Megan Thornton is an Associate Professor in the Department of Classical and Modern Languages and Cultures at John Carroll University. Her academic focus centers on 20th- and 21st-century Latin American Literature and Culture, with a particular emphasis on Mexico and Central America.

Her research interests include:

• Cultural and literary representations of migration and mobility
• Border studies
• Women writers
• Popular culture

Dr. Thornton earned her academic credentials from the University of Kansas (BA and PhD in Spanish) and University of New Mexico (MA in Latin American Studies). She has professional experience with the U.S. State Department (2000–2002) and international fieldwork in Spain and Latin America.
