Christopher Vajda serves as a Visiting Professor at The Dickson Poon School of Law. He previously held the role of United Kingdom’s judge at the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) from 2012 until the UK’s withdrawal in January 2020. A seasoned legal professional, he was called to the Bar of England and Wales (1979) and Northern Ireland (1996), appointed a Queen’s Counsel (QC) in 1997, and is a Bencher of Gray’s Inn.
His research focuses on EU and public international law, covering competition/state aid, constitutional law, data protection/privacy, public procurement, sanctions, tax, trade, investment protection agreements, and the Charter of Fundamental Rights. He actively lectures and publishes in these areas.
Currently, he practices at Monckton Chambers while contributing to academic discourse through events like the 2022 panel discussion on the Fiat, Ireland, and Luxembourg v Commission Judgment.
